Shagang (Australia) Co. Ltd was established by Shagang Group in Australia in 2005 as wholly-owned subsidiary, and made an alliance with WISCO, Ma Steel, Tangshan Steel and Japan’s Mitsubishi in order to cooperate with Australian BHP Billiton mining company for the Australian iron ore exploitation project. This project is located in Pilbara region, the most famous origin of iron ore with storage of 170 million tons of high-qualified hematite. After decades of good operation, the production and economic benefit of this project have reached the expected target. And it annually provides 12 million tons of high-qualified Newman iron ore from Australia for Chinese investors.
