List of the world's top 50 steel enterprises came out, Shagang ranks sixth with 38.35 million tons of crude steel production

On 29th May, the World Steel Association (worldsteel) published “World Steel in Figures 2018”. The statistics ranked the world’s steel enterprises based on crude steel production in 2017, and Worldsteel released a list of the world’s top 50 steel enterprises. Shagang Group ranked sixth among the world’s steel enterprises with 38.35 million tons of crude steel production.

In 2017, China further promoted supply-side structural reform and achieved significant results in cutting overcapacity. “Ditiaogang” (substandard steel) was completely banned and the steel industry gradually stepped into a benign track. In the face of new opportunities and challenges, Shagang gave full play to its comprehensive advantages in advanced technological equipments, scientific and technological talents, product quality, enterprise brand, regional logistics, etc., and focused on “quality, efficiency and benefit” to vigorously implement the “Four Centers” key tasks, i.e. benefits management with iron-making as center; product quality management with steelmaking as center;fine management with steel rolling as center and basic management with all-around and whole process as center. The production and operation of enterprise maintained a good development trend. The full-year revenue was 220 billion RMB with a year-on-year growth of 11%; profit and tax was 25.4 billion RMB with a year-on-year growth of 220%; profit was 19.3 billion RMB with a year-on-year growth of 282%. The per capita steel output, per capita profit and tax and other indicators were all in the front ranks in the same industry of China.

It is known that “World Steel in Figures 2018” provides an overall analysis of the operation of steel industry by collecting a series of data including crude steel production, apparent steel consumption, global steel trade volume, iron ore production and trade volume. From the aspect of the output of global steel enterprises, Arcelor Mittal ranks first, China Baowu Steel Group consolidated and reorganized by Baosteel Group and Wuhan Iron & Steel (Group) Corporation ranks second and Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation ranks third. Five Chinese enterprises are in the list of top 10, which are China Baowu Group, HBIS Group Co., Ltd, Shagang Group, Ansteel Group and Shougang Group, respectively.
