We implemented water conservation and emission reduction, the clarification and sewage diversion, and integrated treatment of waste water, Shagang built 45 recycling water treatment systems and two water reuse plants with 150,000 tons of water per day to achieve "zero" discharge of sewage.

In recent years, Shagang has invested more than 30 billion yuan to carry out environmental protection upgrading and transformation, respectively, implementing more than 100 major environmental protection technological transformation projects such as desulfurization and denitration of coking sintering flue gas, complete closed transformation of silo, iron discharging yard and belt corridor, and equiping the whole process with dust removal device. At present, the whole production process reaches the ultra-low emission standard, and a number of indicators are at the advanced level of the national counterparts.

To be a leader in green development

Shagang relies on the advantages of integration of production, learning and research to promote the development of cutting-edge environmental protection technology and process optimization. Cooperated with Jiangsu Metallurgical Technology Research Institute to develop a new technology of "Three Removal” for hot metal and committed to the production of green and low cost clean steel. Develop and build the world's largest demonstration project with independent intellectual property rights for the recycling of iron and zinc dust sludge in RHF, which completely solves the problem of recycling and utilization of solid waste resources in the industry.

Shagang introduced and innovated the twin-roll Castrip Technology, built the first Castrip production line in China. Compared with the traditional hot rolling mill, the unit fuel consumption is reduced by 95%, water consumption is reduced by 80%, and electricity consumption is reduced by 90%, which truly realizes the green advanced production.

The largest self-use distributed photovoltaic power station in China has been put into operation, generating 35 million kWh of electricity annually and reducing the use of standard coal by 13,000 tons per year.

Shagang took the lead in transforming the steel manufacturing process from one-way linear to circular, and explored a successful model for the development of a green industrial chain. As the country's largest electric furnace steel production base, Shagang actively consumes social scrap resources, and strive to build an "Urban Mine" industry. Shagang has built the largest solid waste environmental protection project with an annual steel slag processing capacity of 3.3 million tons, and achieved 100% comprehensive utilization of steel slag. With the implementation of the "Five Major Recycling and Utilization Projects", more than 98% of the resources have been deeply recycled and utilized.

Promote intelligent manufacturing, implement the "Machine Replace Manpower", build the automatic and intelligent production line of the entire process, so that transfer to the production in the way of green, intelligent and low energy consumption. The steel intelligent environmental protection control platform was established, and 82 sets of online environmental monitoring points were monitored 24 hours a day to ensure that environmental protection was always under control.

Based on the 8-kilometer green corridor along the Yangtze River, Shagang has built a "Garden-style Factory" with high level design and multiple tree species matching. The green area reaches 2.15 million square meters, creating a beautiful factory environment with "flowers in spring, shade in summer, fruit in autumn and green in winter".
