Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. and China Shipbuilding Industry and Trade Co., Ltd. recently built the third world original Fast4Ward®For Dutch company SBM OFFSHORE. The "general purpose" FPSO MPF3 was signed and delivered. Shagang's nearly 20,000 tons of large-line energy welded steel plates are used for the key parts of 3 FPSO ships including this ship.

FPSO is referred to as the "offshore oil and gas processing plant", known as the "offshore giant", is the key equipment for offshore oil development, because of its high cost, difficult construction, high integration, has always been known as the "crown jewel" in the oil industry.

The steel plate used in FPSO not only meets the requirements of low temperature resistance and high strength, but also specially requires that the steel plate can meet the requirements of low temperature impact toughness and strength when the welding line energy is 10 times higher than the general welding condition, which further increases the production difficulty and quality control requirements of steel plate. While Shagang's plate for high heat input welding application with "SHTT" technology stands out, it comprehensively integrates three fields of smelting, rolling and welding, and has passed the welding evaluation of the top three domestic shipyards, breaking the passive situation that such steel plate is heavily dependent on imports.
