These project construction sites are all introduced series of new technologies, processes and equipments what will be landed for great energizing development rapidly. “Steam-gas” cycling units has completed key joints, ultra-low emissions have passed acceptance, the “Greenness” is extending around the all sites……This ten-mile steel city is permeated with vigor and vitality everywhere, which arouses exhilarating emotion in people’s strong impulse.

Only in hard times can courage and perseverance be manifested; only after polishing can a piece of jade be finer. In 2022, the steel industry suffered a "cold winter" due to the unpredictable international environment and repeated delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Facing the new situation and challenges, Shagang closely focuses on the three core concept of "efficiency, benefit and talent", coordinated epidemic prevention and control, production and management, made efforts in scientific and technological innovation, optimized the product structure, accelerated the construction of "smart Shagang", and stepped forward with high quality development.

At the turn of the year, Jiangsu Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology organized Shagang’s new product appraisal meeting. The "low emission thin gauge high strength steel Q500 based on the mini processing" and other 7 products researched and developed by Shagang independently have reached the international leading and international advanced level. This is not only an excellent "answer sheet" for the technological innovation work of Shagang in 2022, also a good start for the New Year.

Innovation means plenty of opportunities and is a breakthrough for enterprises to seize the initiative and win the market. In 2022, no matter how the market changes, Shagang firmly implemented the development strategy of "Innovation-driven", relying on the national enterprise technology center and the advantages of scientific research talents and equipment, guided by the national strategic needs, vigorously promoted the research and development of new products and technological progress, a total of more than 50 new products developed in the year, more than 30 realized industrial production, authorized nearly 400 invention patents.

Shagang led the research and development of the third generation of hot metal "three removal" (desilication, dephosphorization, desulfurization) pretreatment technology is another high starting point and difficult scientific and technological achievements after the industrial production of "Castrip". The "RIF furnace - decarburizing furnace double smelting" process adopted by this technology has complete independent intellectual property rights. Compared with the traditional process, the new technology can greatly improve the purity of hot metal; reduce the amount of slagging by 50%, and save energy by 30%. Authoritative experts Mr.Gan Yong, academician of China Engineering Academy and leader of the National New Material Development Expert Group, gave high affirmation to the technology after full demonstration, and suggested that it be included in the national "dual carbon" related science and technology plan.

"A submerged arc welding wire and welding method" won the 23rd China Patent Excellence Award; "High-speed wire for raw materials (hard wire)" won the single champion of manufacturing industry; super high input energy welded ship plate steel has been certified by DNV Classification Society, which solves the key technical problems of "bottleneck" in the industry and fills the domestic gap...... The "critical variables" of scientific and technological innovation is being transformed into the "maximum increment" of Shagang's development.

Prime products to achieve great pillar projects

The surging power of innovation provides solid support for enterprises to move forward steadily in the face of the trend. In 2022, the product structure had been iterated and upgraded continuously, and a large number of high-end "Shagang manufacturing" made contributions for “pillars of our great power”.

Up to now, Shagang has completed the supply of more than 100,000 tons of pipeline steel products in the national oil and natural gas pipeline network. In the geat projects such as West-East Nature Gas Transmission, Shagang has woven up the "major artery" of energy stretching for thousands of miles.

The steel beam of Qingshuiping Wujiang Bridge of Chongqing-Hunan high-speed Railway has been closed successfully. 15,000 tons of high-performance bridge steel is exclusively supplied by Shagang. The world's largest span of Sichuan-Tibet Railway Dadu River Bridge, its 44,700 tons of high-performance bridge steel plate are all from Shagang; the longest sea-related urban gas pipeline project in China -- Jiaozhou Bay submarine gas pipeline project is fully under construction, and the pipeline steel used in the project is exclusively supplied by Shagang.

The world's largest span 350km/h high-speed railway ballastless track cable-stayed bridge - Nanyu Railway Baihe Yujiang Bridge, Shagang’s more than 7000 tons of bridge steel plate, composite plate casted its "reinforced iron bones"......

The "Label of Shagang" on the "One Belt and One Road" shows the manufacturing responsibility of China's national steel enterprises: The steel plate used for more than 31,000 tons of pile steel pipe composite piles of Pelesac Bridge in Croatia is all provided by Shagang; Padma Bridge in Bangladesh 35,000 tons of high-performance bridge steel are supplied by Shagang; Nearly 20,000 tons of high input energy welding steel plate of Shagang is used for floating production and storage vessels (FPSO), which are praised as "Giant of the sea" and "Crown Pearl" in the oil industry......

Intelligent upgrading to release the strong vitality of enterprises

"The steel industry has entered an era of competition in inventory or even reduction, and steel companies must determine different ideas and countermeasures according to their own circumstances." Shen Bin, Party Secretary and Chairman of Shagang Group, pointed out that digital transformation and intelligent upgrading are the only way to improve competitiveness.

In 2022, accordance with the established Digital Transformation plan, Shagang will carry out main work such as platform unification, data system and comprehensive integration to accelerate the creation of “Digital Shagang”, and focus on promoting the intelligent transformation of main production workshops at the same time. The one-stop service system for enterprise scrap has been launched and put into operation. Through the one-stop online control of the whole process, Shagang has achieved dynamic tracking of the entire scrap process report on incoming information, delivery, inspection, weighting, assessment, settlement and other links on line, truly realizing “more information processing and more convenience for customers”. Shagang established a whole process Quality Inspection and Supervision Center, which collects and summarizes data from its internal network, including automatic sampling, fixed point monitoring, vehicle moving monitoring, recording instrument, and online process quality information monitoring for bulk raw materials inspection. This has comprehensively broken through data transmission barriers between multiple systems such as remote sampling, weighting and logistics, digital control for whole process achieved gradually.

By the end of 2022, Shagang has 1 national intelligent demonstration production base, 8 provincial intelligent demonstration workshops, 1 Suzhou intelligent pilot factory and 8 Suzhou municipal intelligent demonstration workshops.
