Recently, Castrip Line 2 and 3 were put into production successively since the product mix structure upgraded, it marks Shagang has become the world's largest Castrip production base.

The product structure upgrading of Castrip project is a modern "Green" production line cluster built by Shagang in response to the national strategy of "Carbon emission reduction and carbon neutrality", using the world's most advanced metallurgical production process. Castrip technology subverts the traditional production process, energy consumption and emissions are greatly reduced over the traditional process, with fuel consumption reduced by 95%, water consumption reduced by 80%, and the comprehensive energy consumption is one-sixth of the traditional process, the carbon dioxide emission per ton of steel is one-quarter of the traditional process.

Since the first line was put into operation in 2018, Shagang has realized the transformation from a follower to a leader through independent innovation and localization upgrading. At present, the Castrip products cover many series such as carbon steel, high-strength steel, ultra-high-strength steel, weathering steel and green steel, which are mainly used in new energy vehicles, 3C(Computer, Communication, Consumer) equipment, agricultural machinery, containers, smart home appliances, solar energy equipment manufacturing and other fields. Meanwhile, with the technology accumulation in Castrip, Shagang has taken the lead in undertaking the main special tasks of the 14th Five-Year National Key Research and Development Plan, and it has continued to improve the industry promotion and product application of low-carbon emission short-process technology to serve the major national strategies.
